Teacher Appreciation - Teacher appreciation is the week of May 6th - 10th. The PTO plans to provide breakfast on Tuesday, May 7th, and a potluck lunch on Thursday, May 9th for Elementary and Middle School staff. To do this, we are looking for monetary support to help to provide our fabulous staff with these meals. Please send your donation to the school in an envelope marked “PTO Food $”. Checks can be made out to Brillion PTO. The teachers will collect the envelopes and a PTO representative will handle the rest! Food donations are also being accepted. Parenting Tip of the Week: One of the best ways to deal with anxiety in children is to help them confront worries rather than avoid the things that cause them. Parents can also talk with kids about why they are anxious and help them make plans for how to deal with anxiety as it comes up (like taking deep breaths and using positive self-talk). (For more ideas on helping your child with anxiety through Childmind see: What To Do And Not Do When Children Are Anxious, https://tinyurl.com/3a55zyz4 Hacer Y No Hacer Cuando Los Ninos Estan Ansiosos), https://tinyurl.com/3jnr8wm8 #brillionlions

Daniel and Amira participated in the State Meet for Forensics in Madison. Daniel performed in the category of Impromptu, and Amira in poetry. Daniel and Amira received a perfect score of 25, each earning a Gold Medal. Making it to State in and of itself is a great accomplishment, and a perfect score at State is reserved only for the best and most polished performances. Congratulations! #brillionlions Pictured are Amira, Mrs. McClellan, the forensics coach, and Daniel at the State-Level Forensics Tournament held in Madison, WI.

Happy Earth Day! By celebrating Earth Day, you’re part of a community of over 1 billion people who take part in this day every year. Earth Day is about raising awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and taking action. The first Earth Day came about after a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson, saw the devastating impact of a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Not willing to sit on the sidelines anymore, Senator Nelson organized a national “teach-in” to educate and inspire people to protect the environment. Since the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, it has generated public support for the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, the Water Quality Improvement Act, and the Endangered Species Act. #brillionlions
